Ann Johnson works with poets, printers, and textile artists, and her art has appeared in books, magazines, and galleries around the country. Her work is mostly in private collections.

"My paintings begin with place - mostly gardens and the local landscape around the River Wye. I seek to express something of the magic and mystery of our frequently overlooked and misunderstood natural world. Results depart from the representational as I strive to get a balance between simplicity, complexity ... and imagination.

"This year, 2026, I have taken time off from painting purely to exhibit and am instead having fun experimenting with acrylic, collage, fabric, and cardboard. Some of the results will be on show at St Catherine's Church, Hoarwithy. See Exhibitions Gallery for details.

"For the first time I am showing high quality giclee prints, something I have avoided in the past, preferring just to paint originals. However, the quality of the giclee method has moved forward in leaps and bounds and the results, printed on museum grade archival fine art media make artworks more affordable. The prints I have had made are hugely impressive, totally matching the original paintings. Some will be on sale at St Catherine's."
